Examination dates
The written examination is held on two dates each semester. It is only possible to register for one date. The dates are at the end of the lecture period (February/March and July-September) and are announced in the courses or Moodle courses.
Students who start their legal clerkship immediately after the semester can apply for a quick correction at least four weeks before the examination date for the first date only, so that a seamless transition is guaranteed if they pass the examination. The application should be sent to sekschuchart[at]uni-wuppertal.de. The prerequisite for this is proof that at least 90 credit points have been earned. This is not possible for the second deadline.
Subject of the MAP
The written exam consists of two module parts (a & b). Module part a refers to the lecture "Grundlagen des Bildungssystems" (Prof. Dr Schuchart), module part b refers to the lecture "Bildung und Erziehung im schulischen Kontext - Theorie der Schule" (Dr Rürup). The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. The tasks consist of both multiple choice and open text tasks. You will receive further information on this in the lectures. A maximum of 50 points can be achieved per module section, i.e. 100 points in total. To pass the exam, you need at least 60 points in total (regardless of the module parts). The main examiner for the MAP is Prof. Dr Claudia Schuchart. Co-examiners are Dr Matthias Rürup and Dr René Breiwe.
Taking the MAP
The written exam is written electronically with LPLUS via the E-Prüfungen@Uni procedure at the ZIM workstations (L.11.22, T.09.01, T.09.20). Due to the available capacity of these workstations, the exam will be written in several time slots (120 minutes each) on the day of the exam, depending on the number of registrations. You will be informed in good time (approx. 1 week before the examination date) in which time slot and in which room you will take the exam. All you need to register for the programme is your name and matriculation number. To verify your identity, you will also need to show your student ID and a photo ID .

Information on the enrolment and deregistration procedure
Registration takes place online in the StudiLöwe system.
The registration period for the MAP ends four weeks before the exam date. Cancellation is possible in StudiLöwe up to one week before the exam date without giving reasons. If you wish to withdraw from the exam after this deadline, the following rules apply: You submit a justified request by email to the ZPA(zpateam2[at]uni-wuppertal.de) to withdraw from the examination. Certificates must be obtained immediately, i.e. usually on the day of the examination at the latest. They must be received by the ZPA no later than the third working day after the respective examination date. Irrespective of this, withdrawal from the examination must be expressly declared to the ZPA at the earliest reasonable time, i.e. usually by the start of the examination or when the illness becomes recognisable.
In this case, you must urgently provide the following information: Your surname, first name, matriculation number, the subject, the name of the module, the name of the examiner and the examination date. The ZPA or the subject examination board will ultimately decide whether to recognise or withdraw the application. You will be informed of the decision in writing.
Compensation for disadvantages & hardship cases
If you have serious personal circumstances that prevent you from taking part in the exam:
- Students with pre-existing conditions or pregnancy must submit their request via the Inclusion Office in the form of compensation for disadvantages. Compensation for disadvantages must be applied for no later than 6 weeks before the examination.
- Applications for hardship compensation must be submitted to the SOE Examination Board(fpafk9[at]uni-wuppertal.de) no later than 4 weeks before the examination date.

Illness & non-attendance
If you are ill on the day of an examination that can be repeated with restrictions, you are obliged to inform the examiner via your matriculation number account (and only via this account)
- inform the examiner by email immediately and before the exam.
The following information is required for this: Surname, first name, matriculation number, sub-degree programme, name of the examination module, examination date
and - to submit a medical certificate (by e-mail) to the responsible administrator at the ZPA without delay (i.e. within three working days) . You can download the form for the medical certificate here:
Medical certificate
The examination board will decide whether to recognise or withdraw the certificate. If the certificate is recognised, the withdrawal will be entered in the system; if it is withdrawn, you will be notified in writing. If you have registered for the first date, but are unable to attend it with proof of a medical certificate, you have the opportunity to register for the second date via the ZPA up to one week before the date (see deadlines above).
If you fail to appear for an examination that can only be repeated to a limited extent without good reason (see above), the examination will be deemed "insufficient" (5.0).
